Canadian 20th Century Design
I wasn't sure where to post this, but ... in response to the query for for information about American 20th century design, here are some great resources on CANADIAN 20th century design – yes, we have our own distinct and rich design heritage north of the 49th!!
The Canadian Design Resource website http://www.canadiandesignresource.ca/officialgallery/
A fun site with lots of fascinating entries in various categories, but they are not organized by decade. Appears to be no background information about the site itself. Some entries have short or no descriptions but several comments with lots of background info. Put these few examples in the search box as I am sure you will recognize at least some of them:
Project G Stereo
Chalet Glass
Lotte Table Lamp, Lotte Ceramic Lamp
String Chair
Fiberglass Chair
K700 Stool
Spanner Lounge Chair
Plastic Chair Siwinski
Solair Chair Fabiano
Ball-B-Q
Robertson Screws
Books:
Design in Canada: Fifty Years from Tea Kettles to Task Chairs
http://www.amazon.ca/Design-Canada-Fifty-Teakettles-Chairs/dp/0676971385
Made in Canada: Craft and Design in the Sixties
http://www.amazon.ca/Made-Canada-Craft-Design-Sixties/dp/0773528733/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1242025389&sr=1-1
A Modern Life: Art and Design in British Columbia, 1945-1960
http://www.amazon.ca/Modern-Life-British-Columbia-1945-1960/dp/1551521717/ref=pd_bxgy_b_text_b?ie=UTF8&qid=1242025389&sr=1-1
I have been inspired to reacquaint myself with these 3 books, which happily are all available at my local library.

Also look up Seetusee Glassware on the CDR website. I keep looking for one of these in the thrift stores, no luck so far.
