Donna Brogan

Post by dantheman on Sat Nov 21, 2009 5:12 pm

I only have one piece by Donna on display at the moment but it's likely to be the best I have as most Poole ends up in storage due to lack of space.
Is a lovely shape 54 Aegean vase, hand thrown and 9 inches tall

the stunning glazes and abstract art put Poole pottery at the cutting edge of British ceramic design back in the early 60's

a scrumptious Carole Holden design contrasting acid yellow with Delphis red emphasized by the use of brown orange peel background glaze that is so textured it could pass for saltglaze

this very unusual design and colourway was used in the Zodiac series but it's the first time I have seen it on an Aegean range plate.
decorated by Carolyn Wills

the blue glaze is not that shade,I'll take a pic in daylight when it is possible
