Behold here the home for metals, plastics and other as yet under-appreciated disciplines just waiting to explode into their very own sections. They need your help, so get posting!

Bauhaus 'Optical Colour-Mixer' by NAEF

Isn't it amazing what obscure things you can find in charity shops? We took Lottie to a kids party yesterday and popped into a few charity shops whilst waiting to pick her up. Paul found this - it's a Bauhaus Colour-Mixer - first produced commercially in the 1970s but still in production now I believe.

these cast metal cats are very heavy - i think possibly made of pewter. The style of them i'd guess was 1950s and Italian? there is a mark on the back, but it's so unclear that even with a magnifying glass i can't make it out, but there does look to be a copyright 'c' in a circle.

does anyone recognise the style and can put a name to the designer or factory?

Old Hall Stainless Steel (England)

I'm a big fan of Old Hall stainless steel production and have quite a few pieces to show - we'll start with these tealight holders from their 'Lifespan' range topped off with coloured glass shades. It is often stated that the shades are Whitefriars glass production but this hasn't been confirmed and is doubted by some.

Wasn't quite sure where to put this, but thought Miscellaneous is always a good start.

This is my "Bonnie Lassie" (BL for short), a piece of what I believe may be Carnival Ware, which I have on good authority (Glen from the GMB) has little to no connection with the carnival glass that she is so knowledgeable about. Unfortunately.

She is 14 inches tall (including the base and the hat).

However, maybe somebody else knows about her, who made her, why she was made, etc.

Hi,

I went to a boot sale this morning and purchased this clock by Estyma which I thought was from the 1960/70's, I had forgotten the name (Rhythm, remember now, too late!) of the company who made these clocks during the so called retro years. Anyway the clock came with it's original cardboard box, was in good working order and condition and there was no tell tale barcode on the box, so I thought I was on to a winner. Now , of course, I am not so sure. Does anyone know if this clock is a ...

I think this may be the first ID request we've ever had here for a textile! Anyway, here it is - quite a large amount of totally unused curtain/upholstery fabric which I'd estimate (from the colours and style of decoration) to be from the early to mid 1960s. The selvedge is plain - so no information on it at all.

Any ideas?

Dansk metal rabbit thing

Paul came home with this funny little thing - it's by Dansk (marked to the base 'Dansk International Designs Ltd Japan EPZ') and we don't know what it is! We've had lots of Dansk items but never something like this - is it a paperweight or perhaps the slit in the ears is to hold something? Most odd - it's very small by the way - about an inch or two tall and very heavy.

Hello,

I have this mid century modern coffee set and I cannot find out anything about it, nor have I been able to find any others. It's brushed metal, brushed steel? I guess. It's heavy so I don't think it could be brushed aluminum. The bottom just has an impressed "Made in Italy" in plain type-face lettering formed into a sort of circle. If anyone has any info as far as designer, value etc. I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

We bought this tray and coasters set because we liked the illustrations and general sixties look - fortunately it's marked with 'Peter Kneebone for Action for the Crippled Child' (the charity is now known as Action Medical Research).

Peter Kneebone (1923-1990) turns out to have been a very accomplished man with a varied and interesting career - immediately after leaving Oxford he was involved in the organisation of the Festival of Britain before turning his attention to illustration. ...
