Have not been able to find much background info about Glit pottery, but apparently it dates from the 1960s and the earlier pieces incorporate lava rock into the glaze. Quite distinctive and easy to recognize, and those little lava bits are really sharp! (as in razor-like). Here is a decorative plate I found recently.

I bought a wine flask two or three years ago, later identifying it as the work of Roger Guerin or possibly one of his children? but the appeal wasn't fleeting as I just bought another flask which turned out to be a Guerin piece too.

Roger was of the Bouffiolx & Chatalet school in the 1920's

This Hot Stone was designed by Portugese Artist Alvaro Rocha Well known for his superb ceramic murals, produced in a small pottery in northern portugal, handmade , it measures 12"x12"x1", I bought it at a car boot for £8 ,it is very heavy and IMO too good to use as a hot stone .

The Republic of San Marino is the oldest state and the third smallest country in Europe (after the Vatican and Monaco) - it's completely surrounded by Italy. In the 1960s there were a number of potteries in San Marino producing tourist souvenir stuff (often with the name of an Italian resort) that were sold all over Italy. I particularly like the items they produced (like those following) which didn't have a place name but instead groovy 1960s looking girls and flowers. Marked to the bases ...

These are very girly and I just can't help liking them - always marked with a stamp to the base - theyfeature images of typically 1960s girls on pastel sponged grounds. Usually vases, pots and dressing table sets in various colours but I have also found a very pretty (if that's possible!) wall-mounted toilet tissue holder shown at the bottom. I don't know anything about this company at all other than they were obviously based in Milan, Italy and were producing these items in the 1960s.

Italian Bitossi pieces - starting off with some 'Rimini Blu' vases, bowls and pots - all from the 1950s/60s/70s era. This range was designed by Aldo Londi in the 1950s with the colour combination of blue and turquoise glazes said to have been inspired by the mediterranean sea. Various base marks (some shown) - the current modern production has the stamped 'Bitossi Flavia Montelupe' mark (no modern pieces shown here).

Form No.301? 8.5cms tall. Picked up last year. The decor is reminiscent of a tortoise shell (not when sliced up but on a living one!) while the infill decoration is similar to spider web. Brown glazed inner. Base has stamp impressed 3 0 1, FRICK and a little impressed symbol that could be B or 8. Reddy clay (not perfect has tiny chink in glaze as seen in picture but still lovely tactile little thing.

My Czechoslovakian made Native American Chief. An inherited piece which I cherish. Flat backed I assume for the mantlepiece. Number 14152 stamp impressed on base along with an impressed other mark hard to describe - a sort of squashed or ovoid B or even 8 for want of better description - which is just above stamp of 'Made in Czechoslovakia'. Thanks :)

My Lomonosov turned around chipmunk was sculpted by I Y Vorobyev. Does anyone know how I can date him as he's completely unmarked? He seems to have longer ears then the current

model

PS Is Russia covered by Europe or do we need a new section?

i have never found a kermos label before and it links with so much that was made in austria as far as german ceramics goes.much said about perhaps carstens that had a factory there...well with this information i hope it sheds some light on the potteries. Paper label reads

keramos von wien....made in austria-...also has a logo......base marked austria impressed and with form numbers raised 1602-49
