it has been brought to my attention that these may not be Whitefriars.

They're not Whitefriars production - they've been discussed at some length both on the GMB and on Whitefriars.com and as far as I know and believe they're by Ingrid Glas (Austria).

I had a shorter set of these - whisky glass size - that I sold emphatically as NOT Whitefriars. Every time the buyers mentioned them afterwards they called them Whitefriars.
Sometimes you can't win.
