beatrice wood signature?

Post by arsgrabba on Mon Oct 12, 2009 2:42 am

There are alot of fakes out there, and usually they are easy to pick out. This piece puzzles me though, it looks very much like her work but the signature is different, I have never seen her use an umlaut when signing her work. Can anyone help with this?

nor I the faker obviously slipped up with the signature which Beatrice obviously wouldn't do.
It looks like a good piece in it's own right though, any chance of a pic?

Nice pot, but is it Beato? The Sig is different but could be a later piece?

She did a lot of luster and volcanic glazes, she also seemed to favor turquoise.

everything seems right apart from that umlaut, you need to contact a museum or reputable gallery that have handled her authenticated pieces

Thanks Big Ed. I asked the seller to please wait while I had the piece verified, but he became angry and told that he didn't like what I was insinuating.

I know nothing about Beatrice Wood so can't help in this instance other than to say that this thread is in the wrong place so I'm moving it to the Pottery Discussion section :-)
