874-29

Post by Orpheus on Fri Feb 08, 2008 8:23 am

Found on a flea market in Amsterdam (4 euro). Got a question: In the Fat - Lava book of Mark Hill, page 97 is a picture of this vase but the book says it is unmarked. This one is marked - 874-29. I read about Scheurich taking over some designs of Ruscha and the numbers look a bit Scheurich-ish. Correct?

Yes they did make bulls - actually quite different in shape from this one with various different glaze finishes - this is the only Ruscha bison like mine I've seen but I've seen quite a few bulls (and they've sold for very high prices well into 3 figures). Have a look at Mark Hill's collecting blog here..

The base of mine is totally plain and unglazed - I'll find the base photo and get it posted up for your info.
