on my pot the bottom section - the green area in the pic has almost parallel sides meeting the base at almost a right angle making it look like an artillery shell. ie the base is almost as wide as the widest part of the pot. I think this is what makes it lack aesthetic appeal. Is that the same as yours? It's quite hard to judge from the pics (especially when yours is so much nicer!)
