Can someone identify this vase? Czech, Sklo Union?

Post by willieboy on Tue Aug 04, 2009 12:25 pm

Hi

This is my first post, so I hope the pics upload.

I bought this vase recently, it is 208mm. high, and 150mm. in diameter at the top.

Is it Czech pressed glass, Sklo union, designed by whom?

Thanks for any help you can give.

I've had something very similar in the past - it's definitely Czech but that's about all I could find out about it.

There are two on pressglas pavillion under "unknown vases" row number 12.

I know it doesn't help much - sorry - but at least you get to see others.

It looks very like the jacobean range 1922-72 , designed by Rudolf Schrotter for Josef Inwald AG ,
Jacobean was produced by Sklo Union until 1972 , there was also an association with Davidson's Glass before then up until the 1950's ,
info from 20th century glass ,apparently patterns have changed to up to four different companies over the years .

It's not the same vase though Ed - it's been looked over by Pamela, Marcus and Glen - all of whom were unable to positively identify it. Also can you give me the url of the site you mention as having the info because there is one 20th Century Glass website run by Nigel Benson, I would trust his information implicitly, however there is also another very similarly named site not run by Nigel that I feel the complete opposite about!

Hi Pip, it's not a site ,it's 20th century glass book, Andy McConnell,
