"CELTIC" Pots? id please

Hi,

Having purchased this "CELTIC" incised coffee pot and 2 smaller pots, wondered whether they are "CELTIC Pottery", Newlyn Cornwall? Having checked out their gallery & history think I am barking up the wrong tree. Any info or point of reference would be appreciated. Would anyone also know why there are holes running around the rim of the larger of the two pots, what would this one be used for?

I have attached a thumbnail photo of opur Newlyn pot, which retains the original gold foil stamp, but this work is quite different to the "CELTIC" pots.

Hiya, nice pots - not sure if they're from THE Celtic Pottery though - Dan or Ed might know. They look much more like Tremaen or something along those lines to me. The last photo is deffo Celtic - from their Medallion range isn't it?

I think it is from the Medallion range, (having viewed the gallery the pattern looks similar, although slightly different).... picked it up by chance, knowing nothing about it, but eager to learn. I'll enclose a larger "Newlyn" photo then perhaps you could confirm for us please?..... Thanks S.

The coffe pot could be Celtic pottery from Ireland, the design looks to be of a Celtic style. Here is one of mine.

It's possible that they may be Irish , click on this link , I'm not saying this is your pottery , but it's a start all things celtic are not always cornwall

Thats a great start, and much appreciated.

There is also a very faint black stamp which is difficult to decipher. This sits under the "CELTIC" incised mark on the sugar pot only.

Looks like R*****C Pottery followed by an indistinguishable longer word, probably the location? far too faint to photo with macro though- Will get researching....

The design is probably based on the celtic knot , the piece with holes has what looks like a turtle , anywho , With the word celtic ,it must have someything to do with ,either Ireland , scotland , wales or cornwall .............

It does resemble a tutrle!

Mike has since remembered that the lady we had it from, said she bought it years ago from the Isle of Man. So we have now, (rightly or wrongly) deduced from the faint stamp which begins with an "R" that it may be Rushton Pottery? Its certainly seems to be a seven letter word beginning with "R" and the next word fits "POTTERY". Might they have made a Celtic range in their lifetime? Think it has closed now- does this jog any ones memory banks?
