Purple Lustre Glaze, Gilded, Applied Flower Slouched Vase with Initials
Hello! I found this vase last month in a local shop, behind the counter, where they put items that they're not sure of. Now, I'm not sure of it either, but the more I looked at it, the more enamored I became. It is obviously made by an artist, the dark purple almost black glaze is irridescent with intentional pocks, and the interior is fully glazed with a lustrous lavender. The petals of the flower and the rim have gilding. The bottom has incised initials, I can't decide if there are two or three letters. It looks like GL, but then it could be a C and an L and possibly a J. There is also a small area on the bottom that may be an additional impressed mark. The vase measures 7" high and is heavy for its size, weighing over 2.5 lbs. I hope my photos aren't too big, but I wanted to put a larger image of the signature. Many thanks for any input!

ideal imagage sizing,we like a big pic for those details such as monograms, clay type etc.
the pot is likely to be the work of a studio potter unknown in Europe,I would say he's a fan of Japanese form but isn't a purist, possibly from the USA .
I would browse the ebay USA studio and art pottery listings and search for American studio potters online, you may want to start with studio potters from Florida
Good hunting

Dan, thank you. I've been trying to research but didn't know how to describe this form to get the best results. I'll be using your suggestions. One thing about Florida, people come here from everywhere imaginable to retire or winter and we end up with items from all over the place. It makes for some interesting finds, but also muddies the waters when it comes to identifying objects. Thanks again! Anne

I usually work out the glaze type and what sort of clay to narrow the search, that looks like stoneware but it's hard to tell from a photo but the purple lustre isn't that common
