Wall plate - help with ID please

Post by Pip on Sat Nov 07, 2009 1:48 pm

I bought this wall plate because it intrigued me. It looks kind of German but stylistically it could be from a number of places. It has a gold foil label on the back which reads 'Manuel Feulloch' - I suspect this may be the retailer's sticker rather than the manufacturer (obviously it's a Spanish name).

Any ideas?

I'm sorry. Maybe it's my computer screen but is this plate made of ceramic or wood? - James

It would be ceramic ,some styles give an appearance of wood ,spanish companies like cases and some italian pieces are that style .

Hi James, yes it's a matt pottery with an incised pattern to the ground and the two horses in a very high gloss glaze.

Ed, yes now you come to mention it it could be Cases, Spain - there's a similarity in the pottery used.

Has a bit of a Scandinavian studio pottery look to it?

Hi Nik, yes a teensie bit I know what you mean but I don't think it's Scandi... am definitely leaning towards continental Europe.

Yes, I see what you mean - and that's Bavarian so we're back to Germany again :-) I think I'll list it as European and play safe!
