Re: ARTISTS (not ART)
I think this has been quite a good-natured discussion on the whole that is in danger of deteriorating - and I'd personally be sorry if it went that way.
Dan, I think it'd be much more constructive to hear what it is you get from modern art - how you'd view the pile of bricks in the Tate for example or the Shark in Formaldehyde - than be villified for disagreeing. I'd be genuinely interested to hear what it is that you get from these pieces ... you might even change my mind, you never know.

Re: ARTISTS (not ART)
I pay very little attention to modern art Pip,I don't like the present trend in Turner prize winners and have only very recently come to terms with cubism!

Re: ARTISTS (not ART)
Two modern British artists I do like are Banksy and Nick Walker...
If Banksy is reading this please feel free to leave your mark on the side of my Victorian cottage (the side's best because it's the biggest bit of wall without any windows) - any subject at all you choose :-) Ta muchly...

Re: ARTISTS (not ART)
I'm a fan and practitioner off modern art I think Hirst is a major figure the formaldihide pieces I dont like personally but he went out and did them and sold them there are too many moaners amoung artists today I know plenty who consider themselves the last figurative artist most paintings sold are coventional figurative art if you put them in the turner prize no one would of heard of it at least it creates lively disscussion about art I think tracys tent was brilliant tho my favorite off the bunch is rachel whiteread but also gormley you can't make a success by self promotion without good work to back it up you just dont last

Re: ARTISTS (not ART)
I see art and or humour in everything, everywhere. I saw art in my daughter's washing line the other day, and humour! I took a photo but I'll have to check it out again before considering posting it. I take a lot of weird photos that I consider art but they would be boring to others, and no-one would buy them.
