Watercolour Collages

Post by jgibson66 on Thu Nov 06, 2008 10:34 am

I have given up trying to do traditional watercolours (mainly due to my inability to paint), so I now cheat by painting watercolours using different techniques and then tearing or cutting them up and making collages. Actually managed to sell a couple this summer.

I agree, a great idea and very effective when so perfectly mounted and framed :ch3:

Thank you all for your kind comments!

They were just cheap frames from the local discount art and prints shop - just a matter of picking through the frames to find the best ones and then use gumstrip to seal the back of the frame and cover up the metal clips that hold the back in place. Framing is very expensive in Aberdeen (my mum lives in the Welsh borders and pays about half what I have to for professional framing) so for my level of artwork being able to DIY is a must!

Hi Ed, yes there is glass in the frames (just photographed with no flash).

This is the only other photo of my collages that I have (must get busy painting again):
