Mystery Artist
Looking for a name and samples of work by an artist, last name believed to be Roth, painting pictures in the '60's of "impoverished french boys and girls with the biggest old eyes you ever saw", for a friend of mine. Can any one help?

Re: Mystery Artist
There were quite a few artists producing what are now known as 'wide-eyed' prints during the 1960s and 1970s (they were usually images of children yes, although not necessarily French!). I like them - Paul hates them - so I've got one or two little prints that I've bought when Paul wasn't looking. I tried to research this subject a while back but found very little info on the net - I'll try again, maybe new information has been added since then.
Re: Mystery Artist
I found this on this website: http://www.themachiv.com/kookykitsch/index.php3
In the ART category, about 2 3rds down the page.

Yeah - at least I admitted publicly that I like them! (Paul's shaking his head in disgust) :-)

Re: Mystery Artist
In your original posting you had the link to the website AND one of their photos of a painting from the website also in your message. It's the photo of the painting that I've removed since obviously you'd need to obtain prior permission to display it on here.
Have you been on the sauce early or sommat today Dan?

Re: Mystery Artist
So sorry - I thought it was Dan (no wonder he didnt know what the bliddy heck I was going on about!). Unfortunately, providing the source of the image isn't enough, you still need to get prior permission to reproduce the image elsewhere.
Re: Mystery Artist
who says I didn't know?
