Concerned is a FAKE holmegaard ID = Kastrup 'Opaline' Series

Post by dabeachiegirls on Mon Oct 19, 2009 5:17 pm

I am concerned that this decanter is a fake holmegaard. I do not see any pictures anywhere with a "teak" stopper. Further, this decanter is sooo light! Not at all the weight of my Aristocrat Decanter.

Opinions please?

Thanks
Mary

Perfectly legitimate Kastrup 'Opaline' series decanter, designed by Jacob E. Bang in 1960. In production 1960 - 1965.

Nice find!

Wow, okay, it is just so light...it has no weight to it and the bottom is nice and shiny. Those two things made me think it was a possible fake. My Holmegaard Aristocrat Decanter is HEAVY compared to this one. I have two other pieces I bought awhile back, perhaps close to a year when I began to want to expand my collection to European glass. I will post pictures of the two...one was suggested to be a Murano piece and the other, a possible Holmegaard. Of those, I really have no clue what I have.

Thanks for the help!
