Holmegaard / Kastrup-Holmegaard - Per Lütken 'Unica' Designs

Post by Nic on Sun Jun 07, 2009 10:46 pm

A small selection of 'unica' pieces designed by Per Lütken for exhibition to showcase the artistic talent of the company. They were usually made in very limited numbers (probably half a dozen for some of the larger items) and often did not make it to commercial production at a later date.

Form 2068 vase in Cobalt Blue, designed 1966. Never commercially produced.

Form 2386 vase, designed October 1970. An astounding 475mm tall, and incredibly rare. Colours used later went on to form the basis of the 'Cascade' series, although this form never made it past the exhibition stage.

Form 2352 tumbler, from the same exhibition series. Was later put into production as part of the 'Cascade' series. Unica pieces can be distinguished from later production pieces by the signature to the base - early pieces will be marked 'Holmegaard 2352 PL'.

Form 2505 carafe, designed October 1971 for exhibition at the Kunstindustrimuseet. Was not produced commercially, and is very rare indeed - the Holmegaard factory archive does not even hold an example of this form.

Form 3067 tumbler from the commercially unrealised 'Nefrit' series, designed April 1978.
