Elle (Norway)

This is obviously a very nice quality vase, the finish is lovely, but unfortunately I couldn't find out anything about this company online. If anyone else has any of their pieces or knows anything at all about Elle please could they post in this thread.

All I ever found out about it was that it seemed to have some connection to the Norwegian edition of Elle magazine !!! Maybe they commission designs, have them made on contract and label them ?

Mine had the same style of signature (except that the number was 100) + Gold & Black Label: "Elle Norsk" (Norway).

hello, this company started in 1942 in Torkildstranda in Drøbak near Oslo. It was lead by Tor Samuelsen. The company produced right up until 1967. These ceramic peices are now collectables i Norway. If you would like to have further reading of Norwegian ceramics there is a very good book: Moderne Antikviteter ( Norwegian ceramic, signatures and marks 1900-1960
