Upsala Ekeby (Sweden)

Upsala Ekeby employed some amazing designers and produced some great pieces... a few 1950s/60s pieces are below.

1961 large stoneware viking figure by Taisto Kaasinen
(height 9in/23.5cm)


1950s large 'Paprika' vase by Anna-Lisa Thomson
(height 14in/35cm)


1965-69 Pottery Bottle Vase by Mari Simmulson


1960s Karlskrona porcelain cups and saucers

This one created quite a stir at the airport security in handluggage. It appeared to look like a weapon on the x-ray machine.... :sign9:

Anything on the base? It looks like a Mari Simmulson design but I'd like to see base marks first...

Yes that's right - the teardrop shape with initials is her mark. It's deffo a Mari Simmulson design. Very nice.

Found in a cardboard box at an auction near Holmfirth. Unfortunately, it has a giant chunk taken out of it near the top, but in all honesty, it's not that noticeable.
