I see a lot of European ceramic lamps but yours is very different so quite likely Canadian

A wonderful piece. Never seen anything like it this side of the pond, so Canadian would be my choice too.

Mystery may be solved. Waiting for confirmation but it looks like this lamp was crafted by 70s Canadian potter/artist Maurice Chalvignac. Found a big 70s plate at the thrift store (didn't buy it but might go back) with the same glazes and a maker's label.
A bit of googling shows that M. Chalvignac used this petal shape, these glaze colours and piercing in a few of his lamps and vases. I'm going to see if I can contact a few of his 'fans' for confirmation.
