I've bought this oil lamp today...
it's not my normal hunting good but this is made in very good quality and it was more than just a reasonable price....
Seems to be cast brass? On a marble socket. The burner is removable and the only thing written on it is "patent salon reform brenner" and B&L which should be the manufacturer of the burner.... will check it tomorrow

I don't know nothing about oil lamps so far but i think it is german? But thats just a guess
1880 to 1900?

It is not one of the standard oil lamps whuch can be found on the markets over here...
Your help is very welcome as usual...

Found this comment posted on an article about oil lamps -

This is a very interesting history on old Lamps. I have an old German oil lamp that I purchased in Germany between 1964 and 1967. It was purchased from an antique store in the Maintz, Germany area. What I have found out about the lamp so far is that on the Wick Winder Knob/Wheel it states “Patent Salon Reform Brenner” B & L. On the back side of the Knob is a S S with what looks like Lightning bolts ending in Stars. I have been informed recently by a German source that the lamp was manufactured by (Schuster & Baer) Shoemaker and Bear (Berlin) for Brendel and Loewig (Berlin). The distiller is for the first time documented in spring, 1889 Clearly it is an universal distiller Kosmos-Brenner (Brenner-Art = Runddochtbrenner). The base is Pewter and Brass which supports a Ceremic Hand Painted bowl and cap. Under the cap is a clear glass bowl for the Kerosene that sets into the Ceremic bowl. I would be very interested in knowing when the lamp was manufactured and an approximate Value. It is a Kosmos Burner with a Flat wick that forms a complete circle at the burn point with air going up the center of the wick and Kosmos Chimney.
