Familiar mark? Empty Familiar mark?

Been spending time cleaning inside and outside of the conservatory ( can't remember the last time !).
This mortar and pestle has been with me for years - probably 25+ years - just sitting on the windowsill filed with sea glass . I've never really looked at the mark but it seems vaguely familiar. 14cms diameter

Any ideas gratefully received as always

I've seen this mark on a foreign Pottery forum so I suspect it's a piece from Japan, Australia or the US

That surprises me as I'm almost sure it was bought as new in the UK. However it may be my memory playing tricks!
