Fornasetti (Italy) Empty Fornasetti (Italy)

Post by Pip March 8th 2009, 3:57 pm

Sadly, I've never owned any Fornasetti design despite admiring it since the early 80s however we need to have a Fornasetti thread in my opinion, click the link below to go to the official Fornasetti website. If anyone has any photos of their own pieces that they'd like to contribute to this thread, feel free :-)

Fornasetti (Italy) Empty Piero Fornasetti Spezie Jars

Post by jsc March 10th 2010, 9:03 pm

Hi,
My first post. Hopefully I'll get this right.
Adding pics of some pieces I have owned. I emailed these to Fornasetti.com and was amazed that Barnaba Fornasetti would be looking at them for me! Very cool indeed Fornasetti (Italy) 212118 !!! Then a few days later his assistant, Miss Yuki, sent me this info:

The “pepper” is part of a set of 12 vases named “spezie” with 12 different spices.

The “rice” and “coffee” are of the third size of vases with lid like this made by Piero Fornasetti. The numbers went from 1 (smallest) to 6 (biggest) so there were other 3 sizes bigger than rice and coffee you have.

Please note that they are in ceramic.

Roman Circus plate, slightly worn in places, sadly. The  Fornasetti stamp carefully obscuring that of the maker of the original blank. I presume this is fairly early.

Obviously made for the British market.
The worst thing about all Fornasetti cramics is the gold. It seems to be incredibly thin,
and wears off very easily, especially on pieces that would be used or handled a lot.
These two look pretty good Naomi.

The salt is a bit rubbed, but that might be the action of the salt itself
