Majolica corn dish - can you read the backstamp?
Hi Folks,
Here is the corn dish I was telling you about (skay). It is
10" wide. You can't tell from the pic but you could pick this cob up off
the plate and eat it, it is that effective.
Can't read the backstamp - can you? Best I can do with the pic. Antique or repro? Glad
of any help

Re: Majolica corn dish - can you read the backstamp?
Thanks. In my humble opinion it looks oldish. Even though the base looks clean, I was thinking its not the sort of thing that would be used much. I had some more modern looking ones but never used them, also the fork things that go in each end.
I could be completely wrong, lets see what others may say.

ah! Taylor.....! I figured you were an Irish philosopher or something ..lol
I can see why you think it says England....maybe so...
What I can see is gobbadlygook.....
something like..... Falancas Clemargo
Do you know the French for hand made? I wondered if that could account for the top line

hi Big ed
There is one on ebay at the moment from Portugal. This one looks a little more detailed but could well be a cousin I guess. Was yours a modern item, Ed? The white ring around the base is pretty grubby....more so than the pic.
