Hi just wondered if anyone out there recognises this mark, not in any of the books I have. Thanks

Can anyone recommend any good reference books on modern (1950's onwards) British studio pottery marks?

no book will ever list all the studio marks,it would only be possible if a forum like this pulled out all the stops and we all snapped every mark at every fair, gallery and car boot Jumping For Joy

All the forums in the world could never achieve that goal , every potter in britain should be made to register his/her name in a large data bank , then that could be googled for reference , like a massive potters phone book , if your not in it then you can be classed as a nobody ......then maybe a book on nobodys could be brought out ," Millers guide to Nobodys " a best seller I think every page with Dunno written it .

i have to say, after having owned the Yates-Owen & Fournier book for several years now, i have NEVER been able to ID a piece of studio pottery by using it. Drawn illustrations of marks are never as good as photographs as you just don't get a good idea of what parts of the mark are raised, what are impressed etc. It's a good book for getting to know potters names and dates etc, but i've not found it at all useful for identification purposes.

I have a copy of British Pottery and Porcelain Marks by Geoffrey A Godden which is pretty good but it stops at 1954/55 so I'm looking for something to bring me up to date :)

I've got a copy of the above mentioned Yates-Owen & Fournier reference book on order with Tesco books, albeit at a good price. I do hope I find it useful having read the experts' comments. Pondering

Going back to the pot - it's by Warwick Parker, who trained with David Leach and, I believe, still pots down in Dorset. Probably made during the 1970s, as his style has changed over the years.
P.S. He is in Y-O & F but what has been said about the line drawings above is true.
