Wedgwood glass Empty Wedgwood glass

Post by Thesigeng July 9th 2010, 3:46 pm

I bought this at a charity shop yesterday and tried to find out something about it.

I know it is Wedgwood style Viva! but have trawled the t'internet and can find nothing regarding this pattern.

It may be modern  21st Century but I love the striped pattern, so retro i thought, so took a punt for a £1.
The photo shows a mark around the edge which looks like a crack but isn't.
As it was a nice day i took it out onto the lawn to photograph. The plate/platter is
just over 13 inches across and has a matt finish on the back.
Any ideas or info greatfully received ?

It's Viva! Wedgwood. 2002 -2005. It's discontinued now but you can pick up pieces on various sites on the internet.

also, it's not a plate from the pattern, i think it's what they call 'glassware'. Plates are bone china and usually the piece you have is used for things like serving peanuts or butter or as a decorative plate under a candle on your dinner table!! It is cute though, I really like that pattern.

Wedgwood glass Empty Wedgwood glass tankard with blue jasper plaque.

Post by vanmann March 27th 2011, 2:40 pm

I bought this blue glass mug/tankard as Wedgwood but have now noticed that the mark does not read WEDGWOOD as I assumed (new glasses required perhaps) bu appears to be WEDGKIN ??. Is this a Kings Lynn mark or a lookalike from another manufacturer. Any suggestions re. date of manufacture, designer or origin gratefully accepted. John

Looks like a normal - but indistinct - Wedgwood stencilled mark to me.

The glass is an older Stennett-Willson design for King's Lynn, but was later adapted for the Jasperware medals at Wedgwood by Arthur Bryant.

I've checked out the thread Thank you. The tankard has no etched Wedgwood mark - is this unusual or do you think it is a second quality item?

I had two Irish Coffee glasses, bought at the same time new, one with a backstamp and one without.

Probably just the luck of the draw on the day of production.

Hi DM,
We prefer that you use the private message facility when asking such questions as there's a strict non selling rule on the forum.
Also the owner hasn't visited since November so the pm system is your best way of attracting their attention Excellent

Wedgwood glass Empty Orrefors candle holder? Or what? - Wedgwood

Post by Alex_s June 19th 2012, 6:59 pm

Wedgwood glass Candle10

Picked this up today. It's about 5" high, quite heavy and in case the colour doesn't show up well it's at the bluey end of smokey rather than the browny end. Base is only very slightly concave, and not ground smooth.

Ah, that's not the first time I've been fooled by Wedgewood playing Scandinavian. Thanks!
So is it a 1980s Frank Thrower piece?
