Unusual Glass vase? Empty Unusual Glass vase?

Post by melcoles Fri 23 Mar 2012, 8:52 pm

Hi, I have had this vase for a few years, and think it is very unusual. It feels very much like glass, but has a very marbled effect and is quite thick too. Measures about 8 inches in height. The only think I have ever seen that looks similar is something called Lithyalin, but I don't know much about this area.

I will see if I can get a photo uploaded. There are no markings just a pontil with the same patterning.

I think these are normally attributed to friedrich egermann
even a couple of other companies made this kind of glass.
as far as I know not only bohemian makers...
but your's should be czech
and it's a little treasure.....

Thank you for the information, I thought it may be this but just wasn't sure. Is it a rare item? as I can not find much on the web.

well, more than just rare

just ask an auctionhouse if they want to sell it for you and you will get an estimate.

Wow! that looks very similar to mine. We had no idea, has been sat gathering dust as we couldn't decide where to put it, but will now take pride of place on our shelf Cheeky Thanks for being so helpful.
