alla moda
another exibition of Graham Cooleys ceramics Italian this time with accompanying book by Mark Hill. http://www.kingslynnarts.co.uk/whatson_event.php?id=114 Italian mid century ceramics are notoriously difficult to identify unlike WGP the numbers remain a mystery those that are signed are often fakes I'd be interested to know if this book sheds new light on the problem or if its another coffee table item (nothing wrong with that), it will be interesting to see if there is an effect on the market as at the moment unidentifiable italian ceramics go for low prices (Ed may yet regret selling his Berties)( no I'm sure il ne regrette rien)
Re: alla moda
Some Good points there Paul , as for me berties Nah ! No regrets , I made a fair old profit on them and had them on display for quite a while , The Roberto Rigon pieces were always my favourites among bertoncello , I still believe Tasca was a designer with them as well , but i have moved on from them now , I wouldn't mind some of the pieces Rigon is doing from his own studio , I have had my fair share of bitossi and various other Italian bits and bobs but don't have a great interest in that sort of stuff anymore , Give me british studio pieces anyday ,modern or old

Re: alla moda
I visited the exhibition today but found it unimpressive, the pottery on display wasn't exceptional and the book is a thin pamphlet with glossy pics of the exhibits and a very brief summary of each manufacturer.
I read about a few of the potteries ,all info that I had previously read online.
Kings Lynne is a badly signposted backwater and well worth avoiding.

Re: alla moda
Amazing as years of research are supposed to have went into it , googling would have been quicker then

Re: alla moda
220+ pages apparently - not sure i'd call that just a thin pamphlet. I haven't seen a copy myself, but reading MH's blog I think there was a lot more that went into it than just googling.
Re: alla moda
It depends on your viewpoint I suppose , MH is hardly likely to say any different , quantity of pages doesn't ammount to anything either ( Barbara Cartland ) these can be filled with pictures of pots and a note about them , it remains to be seen how much new information justifies the £25 +P+P that is asked for the book

Re: alla moda
I must say Dans critic is a bit undermined by his unnessesary comments on Kings Lynne not what one would call an unbiased review "Kings Lynne is a badly signposted backwater and well worth avoiding." ;;;;;; still Ive never been there so who am I to say

I simply described my experience Paul, we spent 20 minutes trying to find the place and another 20 minutes viewing the exhibition.I tend to take these factors into account when planning to visit an exhibition

Re: alla moda
I think pigs speak the same language everywhere, only the spelling is different.
Italian pigs must say: "oinchinni"
and for exemple portuguese pigs say: "oinque"
I could go on forever...

Re: alla moda

You're right Paul,
in fact I had a guinea pig when I was little and it never made "oink"
