Echo pot
Faceted pot, stamped ECHO round the front. Otherwise unmarked. Suggestions?
Might be missing a lid, but there's no sign of wear around the inside of the neck to indicate there ever was one. A lot of wear around the shoulders, though.

Re: Echo pot
Bit of a long shot - but do you think it might have been a special promotional tub for Echo Margarine, which was produced by Vandenberghs and Jurgens (later Unilever) from early in the 20th century? Might perhaps have had a paper or foil lid tied around the neck with twine.
I don't know how you could check out this rather iffy theory, but maybe a kitchenalia collector might be able to help, or maybe the Unilever archives.

Re: Echo pot
Thank you r-and-f, that's a great suggestion. I was wondering it it was something to do with Echo Park, but that would make it a long way from home. I'd completely forgotten about Echo margarine. Makes much more sense. I'll check it out.

Re: Echo pot
Look forward to finding out.
Apparently it was called Echo because it was supposed to be an echo of butter (distant but cheap). My mother used Stork.

Re: Echo pot
My mum used Stork too.
It might just be a student piece, but I'll keep looking.
