Saved this from the skip. Not oil or watercolour or acryllic paint, so I guess it must be gesso (watercolour and chalk). On board.
Winter scene of farmhouse and barn in the mountains.
Based on the architecture and the limited colour pallet, my impression is this is American or Canadian, rather than Continental.
Signature looks like Cappiry, Caffrey, or Cappery, but nothings coming up. Any ideas?

Looks like Cassidy to me.
I Googled Cassidy and snow scenes and a few links popped up.

Googled it but I'm not seeing what you're seeing. Can you post some of those links you found?

Ah, cheers. Found the category. Unfortunately can't seem to make it list paintings A-Z. Not seeing anything of this vintage, but I'll keep looking.

You were right, George W. Cassidy. A Canadian painting in the mid to latter half of the 20thC, painted in tempura and on gouache

Temiskaming Art Gallery wrote: Biographies > George Cassidy

TAG holds an important collection of George Cassidy’s work. Each of these paintings evokes a unique sense of atmosphere. One can feel the cold, hear the water, and smell the air. As a boy, George Cassidy had a strong interest in drawing, particularity in illustration. His first formal training was at the Ontario College of Education. There he did part-time commercial illustrations for Canadian Packers in the sales field. He came to north to Cobalt in 1932 to teach high school, where he fell in love with Northern Ontario. It drew him to pursue landscape painting and printing. The subject of much of his work is the Temiskaming landscape, painted in tempera and opaque watercolour. A great inspiration for his art was the opportunity to accompany A.Y. Jackson and friend, Dr. Banting of insulin fame on a painting excursion in 1934.
