Anyone know if this is a Hall & Read bone china cup and saucer?

Godden suggests they were in operation between 1882 and 1888.

Assuming this is correct (Godden is usually pretty good), then your cup and saucer is not old enough, we know this because it says "Made In England". (and from the decor)

I would also have expected it to have been made in Stoke On Trent, my guess would be Burslem.

How about Hughes & Robinson. Were they not based in Staffordshire? Unfortunately there appears to limited amount of information on this company.

Again I think that they were operating in the 19th century and your coffee cup and saucer looks 1930s or later.

The cup and saucer do appear to be earthenware rather than bone china and the mark is HR & Co Ld (I can't see after & clearly) not H & R.

I think that this mark could very likely be for the wholesaler rather than the manufacturer but can't make any suggestions.
