Reverse image searches

recently I have been experimenting with reverse image searches, these are search engines that look for image matches rather than word matches but also you can add words to the search so I could upload a pic of Poole pottery for example and add the words "Poole Pottery" the search engine then attempts to find matches that were posted online.
I have tried a few distinctive pots that I posted on the forum and to my delight I was shown exactly where to find my post.
I had the most success with Google but there are several engines out there

I've tried it a couple of times when searching for similar items but not had much success with it, other than for it to show me my own picture if I've uploaded it elsewhere.
I have found, though, that Google now sometimes throws up search items off Facebook, which it never did before.

I've used google image search when I have a smaller 'classic' image and need one at hi-rez - it will tell you if there is a bigger one on the net and save you searching. Also show you where it came from but that is not usually reliant to me. 'similar' images usually just make me chuckle as if you do it with your own photo it can give unexpected results.

It can be useful and have had success, but tried it once with a pottery mark and got pies!
