i seem to buy alot of staffordshire pieces that turn out to be not correct. i wondered if this little lady was staffordshire or not

Looks right to me too. There are a lot of Chinese copies around at the moment, but they are a thick porcelain with brown wash to simulate dirt. There’s also early 20thC Conta & Boehme but that’s a porcelain or stoneware with a slightly bluish ice white colour rather than Staffordshire’s creamy colour. If the dirt comes off and it’s earthenware then it should be Staffordshire in my book.
