I think they are a plaster/resin material. Not a style Ive come across before. Maybe Italian?

thans NaomiM .
I thought you could recognize resin figurines of their scent and their heavy weight. since these figurines don't smell that bad-chemical and are lightweight, I thought they might be made of a different material. is there a simple way to find out what kind of material it is?

You could try a hot needle test to see if it melts, but the resin/plaster ones don’t smell, as far as I know.

Chalkware? Scratch the base with the tip of a sharp blade, and if it reveals a powdery residue it's either compressed chalk or possibly plaster of paris.

I unscrewd the arm and see that the body and arm carved from wood. See wood splinters. Only the outside of the arm is filled with lime, i think.  Also the hat looks like made from lime
Arm is attached the body with a metal screw. This type of screws are in use sinds 60's if im not wrong.  Right?

is it common for a wooden sculpture to be filled with lime or plaster or is it quite rare?
