ges. gesch., short for gesetzlich geschützt, means that the decor or the form is patented. It literally means "registred by law".

One of my fave's - it's a good old size for this style.

D&B, looks like, i agree,
but the possible explanation sounds weird

D&B introduced a new numberiing system post 1955
the old form number 985 may have been changed to 185

Some of you will certainly know the following examples.

I think these were made in mid 70s. Jug 334 21 ufo vase 161 over 15 other vase no. 115/21 ufo vase has W. Germany other 2 have Germany only.
