Japanese Art Glass? Empty Japanese Art Glass?

I found this beautiful 14"x14" concave (or convex?) glass piece while cleaning out Dad's garage!  No signature or initials of artist found, just very unique.  Would love to know more about it?  Method used looks like shaped glass on glass base...

I think the technique is called slump glass. Certainly looks Asian. Vietnam, maybe?
