Re: Mdina (Malta)
Nice Mdina Vase with 4 flattend sides, not cut. Some fantastic colouring in this one.

Re: Mdina (Malta)
Hi guys, can anyone tell me how this sort of decoration is called? It look like it is clear glass cased in a few layers of dark ruby red glass with lustre finish. 3 1/2'' tall and 4 3/8'' in diameter.

Re: Mdina (Malta)
It can well be Naomi, but the surface is very smooth, acid etched is usually quite rough. I can also clearly see the different layers of glass as well.

Re: Mdina (Malta)
Could it be the "graal" technique?

Re: Mdina (Malta)
My understanding of the graal technique is the glass is engraved then covered with a thin layer of clear glass. The photos are a bit dark so I can't see if there's a surface layer.
I thought etched because there appear to be layers or steps around the edges of the raised areas indicating several episodes of etching until the glass craftsman got down to the required level . The surface doesn't have to be rough.

Re: Mdina (Malta)
I believe it's from The Earth Range designed by Michael Harris in 1972. So a 70s date, I assume.

Re: Mdina (Malta)
Mdina and Earthtones is spot on, with this shape mid to late 1970s would be my bet.

Mdina vase. Earthtones style but with the addition of a blue band.

Signed Mdina. label: Valletta, Malta
Hi
Have just found this. Not the most exciting colourway ! It came with a stopper but not convinced its right.
Vase part has white 'swirls' and is overlaid with clear strapping. The stopper has a pale blue appearance hence the idea that it doesn't belong.
Signed MDINA but the label is worn and can only identify the words VALLETTA- MALTA. I would like to be able to date it
Thanks

Hi
Just wondered if anyone could confirm this one for me, no signature or markers? What's the shape called? I know it has a name but I am having a memory fail!
Thanks
