All the pieces of individual work by David J. White that I have seen are small crackle glazed porcelain items with his DW mark.

I agree with that , but many potters have been shown to have various seals that are not instantly recognisable, IE Phil Rogers .

All of the David White marks I have seen (admit not that many), seem to have the outer ring formed to stand proud, rather than impressed, like in this I.D.

I'd have my doubts on it being David White until finding some more conclusive proof to be honest.

Sorry this does not help,

Potty.

There's always a doubt , but my point is potters change styles and seals and this might be the case here , he is a very expierienced potter and did different glazes to the ones we are seeing as his latest , best ask him would be the best bet .

Earlier in his career he owned and ran the two commercial potteries Thanet/Broadstairs that made largely souvenir wares and small items for day trippers and people holidaying in the area. It was only from 1983 that he made individual wares, or so he has said.

However, the pouring vessel here looks like something from the 1960s/1970s and I wouldn't discount the possibility that he made it at that time, although there isn't any hard evidence to back it up.

I am very grateful for all the responses.

There is a naughty teapot hiding behind it in the photo making it look like it has a spout and a handle. My bad photography: hope it hasn't confused anyone.

It has a sprayed on blue glaze a lot like the auction examples.

I agree the more common mark is simply 'DW' but one or two on the Pottery-Studio website do have a third letter which oddly looks more like a second 'D'.

The naughty teapot did make me think that it was from the 1960s/70s but just being a vase makes dating it more difficult.
