Did a bit more looking into it - definitely SylvaC

The shape number you quote "578" is right - you are just missing the "1" from in front of it.

Hope that solves things.

Wow thank you all so much and yes there is a faint 1 in front of the 578. I wasn't aware that Spode and SylvaC copied Keith Murray's work. Thanks again.

Vase numbered 1852 Made In England. Is it SylvaC ?

Isn't that the SylvaC mark in black inverted between the impressed number/ mark?

It's possible, but it's so smudged it's difficult to make out

It is and yes that's one of the ink stamp SylvaC marks.

Hi there, I'm looking for some information of a piece of pottery I was given by my aunt over 30 years ago.

I've looked online for some information re dates etc but can only find this vase (tulip) with the backstamp or impressed mark of "made in England" my piece doesn't state "made in" and therefore thought it may not be a genuine piece of Sylvac

I'm not looking to sell it as the vase now holds more sentimental value following the passing of my aunt a few years ago, I don't believe it has a great value and as such is just on the general household insurance but I would love to know a bit more about it.

I'm glad it is - the lack of "made in" confused me, I wonder why they left it off

I think it depends on date of manufacture whether they used just England or Made in England.

Sylvac hound dog figurine no: 3430

I thought this one would be easy to find out about but I was wrong. I can't find anything in this shape or pattern.
The swirls are a bit like those in the Totem range but that's where the similarity ends. The glaze is very different to the Totem pieces - sort of speckly and glittery. Also the clay is thinner than most Sylvac pieces I've seen. It just looks like a different (better) quality bowl than your average bit of Sylvac.
It's about 9cm high and the top hole 22 x 17cm.
Any ideas?

Can't see that pattern in my Sylvac book (The Sylvac Story) but the backstamp dates to 1940's-1950's.

I wonder if it was an early experimental piece for the Totem range. That speckly glaze might have proved too difficult to replicate with any consistency.

Just wondering if anyone knows if this is Sylvac? The stamp says so but the pattern number appears to be 11 or T11 which I can't find out anything about.  I have tried to get the shine on the base so that it shows up.
