Genuine Fantoni Dish?
I recently purchased this dish at a thrift store and was hoping some one who is familiar with this pottery can tell me if it is real and share any history about it.
It's a fantastic piece - it's been painted on the bottom and has different glazes. If this is indeed authentic - how much do you think a collector would pay for it?
Thanks.

Re: Genuine Fantoni Dish?
I don't see why it shouldn't be genuine. If you google images "MARCELLO FANTONI FIRENZE BOWL" you'll see one with an almost identical signature.
As for value, a Marcello Fantoni vase with a similar image recently sold on ebay for £80. This, however, is a dish and the image is against a less commercial brown background so probably in the region of £30-£60.

Saying that, a pin dish with a lady decoration, only went for £6.

Well, I think it's the one at the top of the page. No?
Re: Genuine Fantoni Dish?
Hi Rita - I'm fairly sure it is a genuine Fantoni piece. I saw a piece with a fake mark in a shop yesterday. The mark stuck out like a sore thumb...

Re: Genuine Fantoni Dish?
Hi, that's great!
I was not suggesting it was fake, I only thought it would be helpful to read that thread about the fakes, to be aware.

Found this on the net
Federigo Fabbrini (1928 - 2007) was a highly regarded
Mid Century Italian potter. Fabbrini trained at the Fantoni Studio,
and in the 1990s worked with Gambone.

Re: Genuine Fantoni Dish?
Stylistically it makes sense.
It's the same kind of design, you can see it was influenced by Fantoni.
We should have a Fabbrini thread.
