Italian glaze technique? Empty Italian glaze technique?

Post by chonji March 6th 2012, 8:14 pm

Hi all,

Anbody shed any light on the techniques and style of this vase? Is it Italian? Tuscan? I think it is fairly modern ,the bottom is simply painted 2113 in large strokes. Its very colorful and the glaze has a curious 'bubbled' effect leaving these white areas underneath, anyone know the name of this technique?

cheers,

heres some photos.

that is why i posted the base / side picture, it is really not of interest, a simple large pattern or model number, seen a thousand of them, so i thought just post the edge to show a little of it.
Mexico is intersting, i would imagine that fits and perhaps is artisan stuff from a tour on hols there, Is really lovely seen properly, The glaze style is interesting to me, i would liike to know more.

does anyone remember that thread? We found towns in Spain and Mexico that shared the same name but the one in Mexico made pottery of that type

I think the thread was called 'Now this must be Italian?'. It was one of my pots.
